Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Enterprise Modelling (IEIA) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism in scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts must be original, must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others, and must properly acknowledge all sources used.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin before proceeding to the peer-review process. The journal applies the following similarity requirements:

  1. Overall Similarity Index: The total similarity index must not exceed 20%.

  2. Similarity from Individual Sources: The similarity index from any single source must not exceed 1%.

  3. Proper Citation: All ideas, statements, data, figures, tables, and other materials derived from other sources must be appropriately cited and referenced.

  4. Originality: Manuscripts must demonstrate original scholarly contributions and must not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or inappropriate reuse of previously published material.

Editorial Assessment

The Turnitin similarity report is used as a screening tool to assist the editorial team in evaluating the originality of submitted manuscripts. The similarity score alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors assess the report to identify potentially problematic similarities, including unattributed text, excessive quotation, inappropriate paraphrasing, and substantial overlap with previously published works.

Manuscripts exceeding the journal's similarity thresholds may be returned to authors for revision or rejected, depending on the extent and nature of the identified overlap. Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript and submit a new Turnitin similarity report before the editorial process continues.

Exemptions and Exclusions

Any exclusions applied during similarity screening, such as bibliographic references, properly quoted material, or standard methodological expressions, must be applied consistently and transparently by the editorial team. Such exclusions do not automatically excuse plagiarism or guarantee acceptance of a manuscript.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission, or other forms of publication misconduct are identified at any stage of the publication process, the journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript, suspend the review process, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with its publication ethics policies. For published articles, corrective action or retraction may be considered when warranted.

By submitting a manuscript to the International Journal of Enterprise Modelling (IEIA), authors agree to comply with this plagiarism policy and accept the journal's originality screening procedures.

The final decision regarding manuscript originality and compliance with the journal's plagiarism policy rests with the editorial team.
